Recently we began to install BioSand plastic filters in the town of Batey Hoyo de Puerco, in the Dominican Republic. At the beginning we spend time teaching the people about the quality of the water, using photos and flipcharts.
During this training time, a lady asked how many children she had to have in order to win the first installed filter. When she told us the number of people living in her house, I asked if I could visit her house in order to confirm the size of her family.
At her home, we found Juana Desi, 42 years old, mother of 11 children and grandmother of 12! More than 20 of them live together in their tiny little house. They received their filter with the great happiness that characterizes them in the cane fields.

Every time I hear or read a story about the HydrAid filter and who is impacted I am grateful to be involved.

I praise God that El Buen Samaritiano Hosptial is doing their part by installing filters in the homes of the people in the Bateyes.
